Twin Flames are a pair of multi-use objects, usable as either (window) lamps or as mobiles, elegantly catching ambient air movement and rotating on a string.
They were designed and handmade in Northern Norway, out of locally sourced leftover mohair. The material gives it soft glow and surface, beautiful colors, as well as natural fire-resistance.
Twin Flames were inspired in color by the eternal rosy fiery Northern Norway sunsets in the summer, and the green-purple dance of Aurora Borealis in the winter. They are imagined as sisters, two sides of the same coin.
Two threads of leftover mohair were combined in each row to create the soft color transitions. The design is original and limited (likely not to repeat, definitely not beyond an additional pair in different colors).
The diameter of each lamp is ~24 cm at the widest point.
Each lamp/mobile took around 4 hrs of labor + many more for design, selection and acquisition of materials.
Both lamps can be easily fit over generic E14 light sources (fittings and instructions provided).
